It's the question I'm asked most in consultation, though almost nobody phrases it that way. They phrase it the other way round: why does it cost more elsewhere? I'm going to answer it with numbers, because a patient about to make a decision like this deserves to see the maths, not a slogan.
What forehead surgery actually costs
Forehead surgery is, in essence, five things:
- Around two hours of theatre time in an accredited surgical centre;
- A dedicated anaesthetist throughout the operation;
- The surgical and osteosynthesis materials for the case;
- One night in hospital;
- And the surgeon's work: the assessment, the planning on your CT scan, the operation itself and the follow-up until discharge.
That's what the surgery costs. That's ARQÉA's price.
There are different models, and all of them are legitimate
From there, different clinic models exist, and all of them are legitimate. Some patients want, beyond the operation itself, a complete experience around the surgery: purpose-built facilities designed for comfort, extensive accompaniment, an environment that pampers them through the whole process. There are clinics built to deliver exactly that, and for those who want it, it makes complete sense and it's excellent. That model has a cost, and it's coherent that it's paid for.
The ARQÉA model
ARQÉA is built on the opposite idea. We start from the premise that the less the surgery and the whole process disrupt your life, the better. We haven't built an experience around the operating theatre. We've built an operating theatre, and stripped away almost everything else. Not saving for the sake of saving, but because we believe many patients don't want an experience. They want to be operated on well, by the right person, and to get back to their lives as soon as possible.
In practice that means we have no building of our own: we operate in an accredited surgical centre and pay per use, only when there's surgery. The team is seven people, each with a clinical role or direct patient-facing one. There are no intermediaries between you and me: I assess you, I operate on you and I follow you up. And our prices are published on the website, with what each one includes, before you ever set foot in the consultation room.
Your quote, fixed and without surprises
The quote you receive after your assessment is fixed and valid for six months. It includes the anaesthesia, the surgical centre, the materials, the hospital stay when the procedure requires one, my fees and the postoperative follow-up. If you want additional services, such as transfers or accommodation, they're priced beforehand and itemised on the invoice, each with its own cost. You decide what to add. Nothing appears afterwards.
If it costs less, is it less surgery?
That leaves the underlying question, the one that really worries people. No. It's the same surgery I've been performing for more than seventeen years, with the same protocols and the same safety standards. More than a thousand facial surgeries have taught me exactly what affects the result and what doesn't. On the first, we never cut back.
The second simply isn't part of this model.
What we offer isn't a stripped-down version of a surgery. It's a complete surgery with nothing around it. For those looking for exactly that.
If we're what you're looking for, we're waiting for you.
