It's one of the questions we get asked most: if the surgery is high quality, how can prices vary so much from one clinic to another? There must be something hidden, something cut back or added later, somewhere. It's a reasonable doubt, and it deserves a clear answer. At ARQÉA there are no hidden costs: what you see in your quote is what there is, and here we explain exactly what it includes.
What exactly does it include?
The surgical quote you receive includes everything that forms a direct part of the medical procedure: assessment and planning with the team, the operating theatre, anaesthesia, the full surgical team and the titanium fixation material your procedure requires. It also includes every postoperative check-up in your protocol, and follow-up by the team until you are discharged.
For the procedures that require it, the quote also covers the entire digital planning process: the craniofacial CT scan, both before and after surgery, and the virtual planning (OPS) built from those images. From that plan we design and manufacture cutting guides specific to your anatomy, which we use in theatre to transfer the plan to the millimetre and reduce both operating time and margin of error. It's a digital process we carry out every time, not an extra reserved for complex cases.
On discharge, we also hand you the medication you need directly at the clinic. You don't have to stop at a pharmacy, prescription in hand, straight after surgery. It's a small detail, but the moment you're most exhausted is exactly when you should have the fewest errands to run.
None of this is optional or billed separately: it's the core of what having surgery with us means.
What doesn't it include?
What isn't included by default are the services that complement the process, which we manage as independent options because not every patient needs them in the same way: accommodation during recovery, hilotherapy, recovery massages and taxi transfers. Someone who lives in Barcelona doesn't need accommodation. Someone travelling with a companion doesn't need transfers arranged by the clinic. Keeping them separate from the surgical quote means every patient decides, with real information, what to add and what to leave out.
Are these extra services up to ARQÉA's standard?
We work with trusted providers for these services, the same ones every time, so quality and coordination are guaranteed even though they're arranged separately. As a rough reference, the full set of optional extras listed above usually comes to up to around €3,000, depending on what each patient chooses to include.
You can also add, optionally and at a low cost, an insurance policy covering a possible revision operation in the event of a complication. It isn't a promise that nothing will ever happen (no surgery can honestly promise that), but for an additional €250 you have the peace of mind of knowing that, if it does, you won't face the unexpected alone or unprotected.
In short, you pay for what you need
The logic behind this structure is simple: you pay for what you need, not for what might suit another patient. If you're unsure what would apply to you specifically, given your procedure, where you live or your personal situation, we'll break it down precisely at your assessment consultation, before you have to decide anything.
